Dr. Doug Galan

General Dentist

Dr. Doug Galan, General Dentist, obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Manitoba in 1985. After a one year dental internship at the University of Manitoba in Community Dentistry, he left Canada to begin graduate studies at the University of London (UK) completing a Master of Science degree in 1988. Upon returning to Canada, Doug worked in Winnipeg for the University of Manitoba in Community Dentistry providing dental care for seniors in long term care facilities, a geriatric hospital (Deer Lodge Centre), and to traveling to Inuit communities in Nunavut. He was also involved in lecturing to dental students and conducting research on dental health issues for senior and on dental materials. In 1995, Doug refocused his dental career by buying a general dental practice in Winnipeg.

In 2001, he moved with his family to Calgary to continue his general practice in dentistry at Tower Smiles. Currently, Doug is licensed to practise dentistry under Alberta Dental Association and College and in New Zealand under the Dental Council of New Zealand. In addition, he is a member of the Canadian Dental Association and the Calgary and District Dental Society.

Doug is married, with 3 children and 3 grandchildren. In his spare time, he is involved in various art pursuits, jewelry making, wood working and gardening. Additionally, he is also co-owner of an ethically sourced, small batch custom design clothing and housewares company called Project 2801.
Dr. Eli Markovich

Dr. Eli Markovich has been practicing dentistry in Tower Centre (formerly Palliser Square), at the base of the Calgary Tower for more than 30 years, and is looking forward to many more years of meeting new patients.

After he graduated from the University of Alberta with BSc. and DDS. degrees, he was very fortunate to be able to establish a dental practice in Calgary at his current downtown location.

He is a member of the Calgary & District Dental Society (http://cdds.ca/), as well as the Alberta Dental Association (ADA) (http://oralhealthalberta.ca/) and the Canadian Dental Association (CDA) (http://www.cda-adc.ca/en/index.asp).

His hobbies include golfing, curling, and skiing.

He has been happily married for more than 40 years, and has 2 daughters, and 3 grandchildren. Eli especially enjoys being a grandfather and enjoys when his own patients (who he treated as children) now bring their own children to see him.

He appreciates the fact that a lot of his patients are downtown professionals who have limited time in their busy schedules to take take care of their dental health, and is gratified that they appreciate the efficiency of his team and the services he can provide.

Dr. Markovich is now more passionate about dentistry than ever, as it has changed so dramatically since when he first started and he loves learning new aspects of dentistry as technology evolves.
